Today let's focus on this idea: We love God by loving others.
At first when I started reading this devotional book, and I saw on this love stuff, I thought, this is a bit much. But, now that I've come back to actually writing a response to Rick Warren, I realize that he is really on to something, well, quite radical. We love God by loving others. Think about the implications of that statement, especially when it comes to your interactions with co-workers, friends, and even those people you occasionally meet.
Suggestion for today. WHip out your Bible, or google Bible for an online version, and look up the first letter of John 1 John 4:20. The second part of that verse. It's written in an awkward way for us, cause it seems to have this divisive tone of believers vs unbelievers, but I think the real heart of this verse is the idea that we love God by loving others.
OK. Now, here is the question for the day. What does the way you treat others, love others, say about your love for God?
That's a great question. Not mine, Warren's, and I'll be reflecting on that all day, hopefully it'll impact my behavior.
