Thursday - Better Together

Last night, Wednesday, we had a nice size crowd for our first Wednesday evening worship service. Come next week if you can make it. 7:00 p.m.

I'll revisit some of what I said, which focused on I Corinthians 13, the Love passage that is so often read at weddings. I have to say, after 20 plus years of weddings, I'm so sick of hearing this passage read at weddings. Yes, I said that tonight. Why, cause most 22 year olds getting married have no idea what they are getting themselves into, and the Love passage just doesn't help, cause they think Love is the same as being In Love. Wrong. So tonight we looked at the 1 Corinthians passage in a little more depth.

Love is Patient and Kind. Yup, have you had children. You'll learn the value of patience and kindness, and they'll test you on it too.

I described the three words for Love in the Greek language. Philos - kind of brotherly love, friendship. Eros - Erotic Love, but also Passion, when someone says they love Gardening, they are passionate about it. Agape - grace, Forgiveness, the kind of love that if you've had someone accept you even when you really messed up.

So why all this talk about Love in the early days of this Better Together: 40 Days of Community?

Cause if you ain't got Love - you ain't nothin'.

Action item: Pick someone you know, and decide that today you are going to be intentionally extra patient and kind with them for today. let us know any results in the comments section, if you wish.

PS Friday's Devotion won't be up until Friday evening.
