We arrived in Tegu after a long bus trip. Saying goodbye to rev. Dagoberto, his wife Maria, her sister Julio Maria, plus all the people and children at Los Tablones.
We drove by bus through the vast farmlands and stopped at Valle de Angeles for Lunch and a little craft shopping. Then into tegucigalpa for our hotel stay. It was great to get hot showers, plus the marvelous BBQ that Scott puts on for us whenever we are here. Our transition home has begun. Around the dinner table we talked about the week, and decided to get T shirts to memorialize the events, including nicknames for everyone. I was called El Grande Telapia, others received names during the week Barrrrrrbara, Muy Fuerte, Eleme, etc.
the comments during our closing discussions reflect how these trips have an impact on all of us. A few examples included, reminders of how our lifestyles our so vast in comparision, thoughts on humility and the spiritual significance of learning that as well as patience, the virtues of connecting with people through language and cultural barriers.
This has been a very very rewarding experience for all, we helped with the construction of the church and they will possibly finish pouring the floor of the sanctuary aka ceiling of the basement level over the next few weeks.
