tuesday in Yuscaran

Today, the group awoke to a mild rain as clouds rolled in around the mountain. It has been cooler this time than any other. (by the way, you need to forgive all typos and grammar because of the spanish keyboard, and my head bouncing between languages) The cool weather has made both sleeping and working much better. Probably 58 at night. We were also greeted this morning by "a cacaphony of birds" accoridng to Diane Oliver. The sound reminded us of the voice of Creation singing praises to God, along with the many children from the neghborhood.

Today the group spent time working on the support structures for the main floor, as they twisted wire and bent rebar, while others mixed cement by shovel. The work crew was excused for the afternoon, because there were too many of us in the pit or building and the Hondurans needed to get some construction done. So Barbara and Emily gathered in the town square and attracted a throng of children as they made Geckos out of beeds. Nancy, Joyce and Samantha started working with girls as they used the sewing machine we brought down. I learned that our previously donated sewing machines are not in a clost as we had thought, instead they are being used at a nearby cooperativa sewing center run by the church in Ojo de Agua.

I spent today with Pastor Dagoberto, and we drove to Danli for a meeting with the Water drilling team that is here from Texas. I sat in on a meeting where the team of Hondurans and Americans discussed the various successes and obstacles as they drill water wells for various communities. I listened in admiration as the people of the church work through challenges and cultural differences all for the purpose of bringing cleand and FREE water to various towns and villages, all in the name of Christ.

Dago and I spent the day in the truck attempting to communicate, as I flipped through my Spanish dictionary learning new words. Much more to write and tell. But this will have to do for now.
